SON, KANE PARTNERSHIP LAUDED BY DEFOE

 

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has praised the partnership between Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane in the Premier League this season. The partnership between the two players has propelled Spurs to the top of the Premier League table ahead of title favourites like Liverpool and Manchester City.


Jermain Defoe talked about Son and Kane during an exclusive interview with journalist Reece Mennie on Mennie Talks as he said that they have the best partnership in the world right now. He likened the partnership to the one enjoyed by Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto’o at Barcelona over a decade ago. Henry, Messi and Eto’o were instrumental as Barcelona won six trophies in the space of one year (2009) under managerPep Guardiola. REMEMBERING DEFOE STINT AT SUNDERLAND

Jermain Defoe is arguably the most underrated striker in the history of the Premier League. The diminutive forward is not always in the conversation of the best strikers to ever play in the league despite featuring in the top 10 list of highest goal scorers.

The period that underlined his goalscoringexploits was in the 2015/2016 season after joining Sunderland from his torrid stint in America Defoe scored 15 goals that season. His goals were a huge reason why Sunderland was able to escape relegation.

Defoe is an important player

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has stated that Jermain Defoe is an important member of the team and that he will be counting on him a lot this season. He said that this is why he has not allowed the player to leave on loan.

JERMAIN DEFOE WANTS POGBA TO DO MORE

Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe has come to the defence of Paul Pogba following worldwide meltdown of Manchester United fans following the shock loss to Brighton on Sunday. After starting the first game decently with victory over Leicester City 2-1, many expected the start studded side to offer more. However, an underwhelming performance saw them lose at the Falmer Stadium.

Many have questioned if Pogba would truly reach the level of consistency required to operate at the highest levels. Defoe believes the France international is yet capable of doing so. The World Cup winner opened scoring for the season, and skippered the team in the games but he was not able to do more.
