SPURS BEAT READING

Tottenham Hotspur has defeated Reading F.C. by 3-1 at Madejski Stadium. It was an easy victory for the Spurs. The English striker, Jermain Defoe, scored two goals for Tottenham. The match was seen by a large number of Tottenham fans and the team didn’t disappoint the supporters.

More than 24,000 people were present there in the stadium to watch this encounter. The scores were levelled at 1-1 till the 70th minute of the match, but, the Spurs played brilliantly in the last 20 minutes and took the match away from Reading. This was the first victory for the Spurs in this season.

Tottenham was off to a fantastic start in the match. Jermain Defoe took the Spurs ahead by scoring his first goal in the match in the 18th minute. That goal was a result of the team effort of the Tottenham players. Sigurdsson passed the ball to Aaron Lennon who beat a couple of midfielders and gave Defoe a terrific cross near the box. Defoe swept the ball powerfully and the ball went into the bottom corner of the net. Alex McCrathy, the goalkeeper of Reading, couldn’t do anything. That was the only goal to be scored in the first half.

The lead of Tottenham was doubled in the 70th minute with the goal of Gareth Bale. However, the credit of the goal should also be given to Kyle Walker who got rid of two defenders to bring the ball near the box. Then, he passed the ball to Bale who made no mistake in deflecting the ball into the goal post. Just four minutes later, Defoe scored his second goal in the match to take his team ahead by 3-0. In the 78th minute, Defoe was substituted by Clint Dempsey who made his debut for Tottenham. The Reading players didn’t manage to reduce the lead in the remaining time and got beaten by a profound margin.
