QPR have been looking to sign some high profile players in the summer transfer window and they have been quite successful in bringing some of them as well. Even after the arrival of players like Fabio Da Silva, it seems that the club are not satisfied.
The new vice-chairman of the club Amit Bhatia has revealed that they are looking at both Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe and former Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy as potential signings before the transfer window closes. Immediately after the takeover of the Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes, QPR have been looking to break into the European positions.
It is expected that the plethora of arrivals in the new transfer window will aid the club in the progression through the table. QPR survived in the Premier league by the skin of their teeth, despite the last day defeat at the hands of Manchester city. QPR will be hoping that they will not have to face another relegation fight this season and the quality of players they are attracting is a testament to this fact. Yet, their summer shopping spree is not over after the VP admitted that he would like to bring in two more strikers into the club.
“It would be hard to speculate at this point [on Defoe’s transfer status]. It’s not the right thing to do. Mark likes to have a long list of players! We’ll see what happens. Many of the players we are after potentially have interest from other clubs also. Craig [Bellamy] is definitely a name that has been mentioned, a name we’ve discussed. There are a few options. Craig Bellamy for the last few years, ever since he became available, thats not to say we have not been fans of other players,” said Bhatia in response to the next transfer targets for the club.
