JERMAIN DEFOE URGES TOTTENHAM TO MAKE JANUARY MOVE FOR GELSON MARTINS

According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Gelson Martins has emerged as a target for Tottenham this late in the window. Antonio Conte has been keen on signing a winger before the end of the summer transfer window and may have switched his attention towards the 27-year-old AS Monaco attacker after losing the race to land Daniel James.

Tottenham are hopeful of bringing in a new wide attacker before the transfer deadline. Antonio Conte may be keen to add another winger, despite signing Richarlison from Everton earlier in the summer. DEFOE IN TALKS OVER COACHING ROLE

Jermain Defoe is in talks over a coaching role at former club Tottenham Hotspur according to journalist Dan Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick mainly covers England and Tottenham Hotspur as the chief football corresponding for the London Evening Standard. He tweeted via his Twitter account that Jermain Defoe was an half-time guest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the 1-0 home win over Burnley, the penultimate league game of the season for the North London club. It was revealed that Jermain Defoe has been in discussions with the club over coaching in the academy.


Defoe is not the only ex-Premier League player in conversations with Tottenham Hotspur over a coaching role at their academy. Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has also been linked with a permanent coaching role in the academy at the club. The Ivorian has been coachingin the Spurs Academy since the end of last year. DEFOE, A SUBSTITUTE AGAINST FLEETWOOD TOWN

Veteran striker Jermaine Defoe was a substitute for Sunderland as they came from behind to beat Fleetwood Town at home in a League One clash played earlier in the week. Jermaine Defoe returned to Sunderland during the January transfer window and he has been involved with the Black Cats’ first-team since then.


Fleetwood Town took the lead against Sunderland through new signing  Elliott Harrison who was signed from fellow League One team Portsmouth during the January transfer window. Rangers player/coach Jermaine Defoe has lauded new Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe as a tactician who pays attention to details. Jermaine Defoe made this known in an interview with Sky Sports as revealed that the attention to detail in training on the part of Howe is unbelievable.

Jermaine Defoe is not a stranger to Newcastle United boss Howe having worked with him in close quarters at Bournemouth while the Cherries were still in the Premier League. Defoe played for Bournemouth while Howe was their manager.

DEFOE, AN ABSENTEE FOR RANGERSAGAIN

Rangers striker Jermaine Defoe was an absentee as the Scottish Premiership champions claimed top spot with a comeback win over St. Johnstone last weekend. Jermaine Defoe was not in the Rangers squad that secured a 2-1 victory at the expense of home team St. Johnstone.


Without Jermaine Defoe in their squad, Rangers fell behind early in the second half after a goalless first half. Michael O’Halloran scored the opener for hosts St. Johnstone before KemarRoofe pulled Rangers level just before the hour mark thus paving the way for skipper James Tavernier to win the game for the defending champions. Rangers right-back Tavernier produced an inspirational moment on 79 minutes to score the second Rangers goal and ultimately win the game for his team. DEFOE INJURED IN FRIENDLY DRAW

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was handed a big injury worry ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season when experienced striker Jermaine Defoe pulled up with an injury during the friendly encounter between Rangers and Arsenal on Saturday. Jermaine Defoe sustained the injury in the first half of the game which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Around 2000 fans were at Ibrox to see the game between their beloved Rangers and Premier League giants Arsenal. The Rangers fans would have been worried with the injury to Defoe who’s likely to miss the start of the new Scottish Premiership season. The 2021/22 Scottish Premiership campaign starts on July 31.

It was reported that the club wants to sign the former West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth attacker after his contract with newly crowned Scottish Premiership champions Rangers expired this summer.A potential transfer for Defoe wasdiscussed by the Ipswich Town hierarchy as the new US-based club owners try to lift the mood at the club ahead of the new season. However, it became clear that a deal won’t be possible for Defoe who earned £35,000 on a weekly basis at Rangers.

DEFOE CRITICIZES EUROPEAN SUPER LEAGUE PLANS

The football world is currently in chaos and there’s been a lot of public opinion in the last 48 hours following the announcement that there’s going to be an introduction of a new European Super League that will be played by only a selected number of teams. Since the news broke out, there have been a lot of angry reactions from fans across the world, while players, pundits, and the other clubs who have refused to join the Super League have bashed the plans.

DEFOE COULD LEAVE RANGERS THIS MONTH

Veteran Rangers striker Jermaine Defoe could leave the club in this January transfer window according to the latest reports emanating from the media in Scotland. The specific publication from the Daily Record could be on the move as he closes in on 40. Jermaine Defoe has a very good goalscoring record for Rangers in his two years at the club.


The ex-Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Portsmouth striker has scored 29 goals in 62 appearances for the Scottish Premiership giants. Jermaine Defoe signed for Rangers in January 2019 and he could depart after two years despite having six months left to go on his Rangers contract. The veteran England international has played just seven times for his club this season in the league but this is not all down to manager  Steven Gerrard. SON, KANE PARTNERSHIP LAUDED BY DEFOE

 

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has praised the partnership between Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane in the Premier League this season. The partnership between the two players has propelled Spurs to the top of the Premier League table ahead of title favourites like Liverpool and Manchester City.


Jermain Defoe talked about Son and Kane during an exclusive interview with journalist Reece Mennie on Mennie Talks as he said that they have the best partnership in the world right now. He likened the partnership to the one enjoyed by Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto’o at Barcelona over a decade ago. Henry, Messi and Eto’o were instrumental as Barcelona won six trophies in the space of one year (2009) under managerPep Guardiola.
